Apparel
In English riding disciplines, riders wear breeches, jodhpurs and riding tights with built-in stretch. These types of riding pants fit closely through the seat and legs to help prevent chafing, facilitate contact with the saddle, and fit inside tall riding boots.
In Western disciplines, bootcut riding pants or riding jeans also fit somewhat closely up top, but flare at the bottoms to fit over Western boots.
Riding shirts vary between disciplines, from quarter-zip tops with stand-up collars for English riders to snap performance shirts for Western riders. These may have slightly longer sleeves to keep the rider’s wrists covered during a performance.
Riding vests and jackets typically offer a lot of flexibility: two-way front zippers, back snap saddle gussets, removable hoods, and more.
